C.C.A.G.P. MAIN LINE CHINESE SCHOOL
Ding Hao Parents and Students Guide 2024-2025
1.If you have a child age nine or below, the school requires that you remain in the building while your child is in class. In the past, there have been a few isolated incidents involving young children whose parents left the premises during Ding Hao class. Please use your discretion for older children.
2. Inform your child’s teacher about any serious health conditions your child may have (i.e. allergies, asthma, diabetes, etc). Please be aware that Ding Hao occasionally offers children the opportunities to taste various Chinese foods but nothing with nuts. We are a nut free school.
3. All members of the school community are responsible for and asked to help return the rented classroom to the same condition in which we found them. Parents, you have the responsible for any damage your child/children make to school property.
4. Our email and website (http:/dinghao.ccagp.org/) are the schools sole means of communication. Please check your email and/or the website weekly to remain informed about school events and snow days. If your email address changes during the school year, please notify our registrar, Catherine Hou (DHregistrar@ccagp.org) and our Principal, Connie Lai (dinghaoprincipal@ccagp.org) giving them your new email address. Please note that our school calendar appears on our website.
5. Students are not permitted to use any property belonging to the Radnor Middle School classroom (i.e. stationery, rulers, scissors, etc.) Thank you for only sending drinking water and nut free dry snacks to Chinese School for snack time.
6. Parent participation in the classroom: Lower Level 1– Parents are required to remain in the class to assist their children for the first 3 weeks. Middle and Upper Level – Parents are asked not to stay in the class. All parents are invited to enter the classroom during the last 10-15 minutes to receive homework. If there is a problem with a child, the parent should discuss it with the teacher.
7. Circle Time: Generally, the Lower Level children attend circle time.
8. CCAGP (Chinese Cultural Association of Greater Philadelphia) is the umbrella organization for Ding Hao and Ming De schools. On our registration form, you will see an annual CCAGP Parent Fee, on a per-family basis.
9. SAC (School Administrative Committee) advises the Principal on sustaining the viability of the Ding Hao Chinese School. The SAC makes decisions and takes action on issues related to school staffing, curriculum, promotion, tuition/finances, insurance, extracurricular activities/events and school enrollment.
10. Kindly let your child knows your whereabouts, between the hours of 9:30 and 11:30 AM! The emergency information you provide on your registration form is the information our teachers will be given if we need to reach you. Any time you leave the premises; this will be our only way to contact you. If you do not have a cell phone, please ask another parent, preferably a parent in your child’s class, and be sure that parent’s information is written on your registration form.
11. You will have four weeks at the beginning of the school year to determine the best level class for your child. If a child wants to visit a different class and/or switch classes, parents must first talk to Mrs. Connie Lai. Finding the right level for your child is important to us and the appropriate arrangements will be made.
12. Students are prohibited from bringing guns, knives, drugs, and alcohol to school. Students who violate this rule will be expelled.
13. Please do not permit your child to bring anything that could potentially be distracting to the class (i.e. electronic devices, toys, makeup, arts and crafts, balls, toys etc.). If a child must have a cell phone, it must remain switched off and kept in his or her backpack. If the phone is being carried for emergency purposes, it must be switched to the silent mode and kept out of sight.
14. Smoking is not permitted either inside or outside of the school building.
15. Please do not allow your children to wear Heelys or wheeled shoes to Ding Hao class. Skateboards, bicycles and scooters must remain outside the building.
16. For safety reasons, students are asked to remain in their classrooms during class time, and in the building while school is in session. Violations will result in suspension.
17. Please let your child know that he/she must obtain permission from the teacher to use the bathroom; children should not linger in the hallways.
18. Our teachers have, at best, 2 hours each week to cover the curriculum with your child/children, and every minute counts. If a child’s behavior is disruptive two or more times the parent of that child will be asked to sit in the classroom to monitor their child during class, until the teacher feels it is no longer necessary.
19. Students are expected to complete homework weekly and hand it to their teacher at the beginning of each school day.
20. Please refrain from running or shouting in the hallway.
21. Tuition will be refunded on a prorated cost-per-class basis to those who withdraw after attending the first, second or third class. Fifty percent will be refunded to those who remain through the fourth class. After the fourth class, no fees will be refunded.
Please note: These guidelines will be updated each year.
