Dear Parents and Teachers,

Please see the below message from the Director of the CCAGP Culture Program.  CCAGP will be hosting their annual open house Saturday on the 3rd floor.  The open house is an opportunity for our families to check out the many cultural classes offered both during and after Chinese school.  This is also a chance to meet the teachers, ask questions, and register for those classes. Class are offered for both children and adults.  The flyer, schedule,  and registration forms are attached.

Best Regards,

Steve and Kris Swindler

Dear CCAGP community families and friends,

Welcome back! Hope you all enjoyed a great summer. I am pleased to share with you the schedule and registration form (attached) of the CCAGP (Chinese Cultural Association of Greater Philadelphia) culture program for the fall semester. There are some exciting changes:

  1.      We welcome Mr, Artúr Tóth to CCAGP as our new Chinese Martial Art (WuShu) instructor.

Artúr is no stranger to the CCAGP community. He was teaching assistant to Master Paul Sun who previously taught the WuShu class at CCAGP. Artúr is a German-born Hungarian who moved to the United States at the age of three. He began studying Southern Tiger-Crane Kung Fu (虎鶴拳) at The Siu Lum Studio under Dr. Steve L. Sun in 2004. He earned his 1st Degree Instructor Ranking (Black Belt) from Master Instructor William Holman (6th Degree) at The Siu Lum Studio in 2013. Artúr joined the Shen Fa Society approximately six years after he entered the martial arts and began specializing in Northern Praying Mantis Kung Fu (螳螂拳) under the tutelage of multiple instructors, including Grandmaster Paul Sun (孫博文), Master Andrew Shinn (沈安吉), Master Gregory Stevenson and Charlie Illingworth. Artúr earned his 1st Degree Instructor Ranking (Black Belt) from Grandmaster Paul Sun of The Shen Fa Society in early 2016 and received the first official issuance of The Shen Fa Society’s instructor certificate since the institution’s foundation. He has also gained experience in other styles of martial arts, including but not limited to MMA, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Eight Trigram Palm (八卦掌), Ryukyu Kempo (琉球拳法), Southern White Crane Kung Fu (白鶴拳), Grand Ancestor Fist (太祖拳), Kyusho-Jitsu (急所術), Filipino Kali, and Feeding Crane Kung Fu (食鶴拳). Artúr has taught children and adult classes for over six years and is eager to continue pursuing his passion as a teacher and perpetual student of the martial arts.

  1. We welcome Ms. Shiela Moorthy to CCAGP as our new yoga instructor.

Formerly a successful marketing executive, Shiela is now dedicated to helping people regain and maintain health and vitality through nutrition and wellness coaching. Shiela is a fitness enthusiast who received a first degree black belt in Taekwondo. She has been practicing yoga her whole life and recently became a certified yoga instructor. She is passionate about yoga as a tool kit for life and is committed to sharing her experience with others so that they can reap the benefits of yoga. She has taught yoga at the Yoga Life institute, fitness centers, community centers, and private clients.

  1. A new class “QiGong, Music and Well-being” is being offered by Ms. Qian Qi, our erhu and Chinese instrument teacher who is also a QiGong enthusiast. She is going to combine her long-time learning and experiences in music and QiGong and share with us ways to improving and maintaining health and well-being.

On Saturday September 17th, CCAGP will host an open house for the culture classes. Attached please find the flyer with details of the event. All culture class instructors will be available between 11am and 12pm to show case their classes and answer questions. There will be light refreshments and moon cakes to kick off another year of exciting cultural activities. Registration forms will be on site for those who would like to sign up for classes. Please come meet our instructors and check out the classes!

We continue to search for a Chinese folk dance teacher. Please let me know if you or anyone you know who would be interested in teaching.

The cultural program cannot be successful without your participation! I look forward to seeing you at the open house. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have questions.

Best regards,

Ya-Ting
