Dear Ding Hao parents,
My name is Wenli Yang and I am the new Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) chair for this school year. My daughter Olivia is a 5th grader and she is in M3 this year. I am thrilled to take on this role this year and I look forward to working with all of you to make this school year an enjoyable learning experience for our kids. As PTO chair, I will be responsible for communicating school events and any necessary information with the parents every week. So look out for an email from me once a week (most likely Thursday or Friday).
The PTO engages in several events during the school year which I list below:
Fundraising:
We plan to hold two fundraising events, one in the Fall and one in the Spring. Funds raised from these events will go toward activities such as Chinese New Year red envelopes, cultural festivals, Word Recognition awards, end of the year awards, etc. In the Fall, we will hold a bake sale and please mark your calendar for September 30th for the sale. I will be sending out a signup sheet for volunteers to work at the sale and for bake goods contributions.
Chinese New Year celebration:
The PTO will be helping out with the celebration and we will need volunteers to sign up to prepare for and to work at the event.
Character Recognition competition:
This is usually held in March. The PTO funds the prizes and refreshments. We will need volunteers to purchase prizes, prepare refreshments and work at the event.
End of the year picnic:
The PTO will be helping to organize this CCAGP sponsored event. We will be needing volunteers to work at the picnic.
I am looking for parent volunteers (one parent per room) for each classroom. They help the teacher out when needed and they also collect gifts/money for Christmas and/or Chinese New Year for the teachers. Please email me if you would like to volunteer. Please indicate the class number and the teacher’s name.
If you would like to bring a snack to share at the parents coffee table for this semester, please sign up on this google sheet:

Lastly, please consider becoming the PTO co-chair with me. As you can see, we have a lot of work to do and it’s going to be a lot of fun too. If you are interested in sharing these responsibilities with me, please reach out. I would love to have a partner!
I think this is it-for now. Have a nice weekend!
Wenli Yang
