Message from the Principal

Ding Hao Chinese School

Radnor, PA

for English-speaking families

who wish to learn Chinese

Dear Parents,

I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your support, especially the board members, the SAC members, and PTO officers. Without your hard work and your well-organized volunteers, we would not have gotten through this year. I am thankful that almost all the teachers are returning this coming fall except one. It’s most enjoyable to work with a group of faithful, talented, and dedicated teachers.

Since the 1980s, my family has been coming to Radnor High School for Chinese classes. It is hard for me to imagine leaving this terrific location. So many wonderful memories happened at this place. Still, I feel we cannot provide a good program with the many interruptions imposed upon us by the High School. We really have no other choice but move to a new location. I have talked with many of the surrounding schools, such as Agnes Irwin School, Haverford School, Jack Barrack School, Ithan Elementary, and Radnor Elementary, but none of them can meet our needs effectively. Therefore, the Board decided to choose Radnor Middle School as our new home.

Many of you attended several meetings about this issue. I think you will agree that the Middle School is the best option for us. For many of you, moving to the Middle School will be a big adjustment; however, I feel it is more important to have solid continuity -- a program that is not constantly being interrupted -- than to have a perfect parking situation. The Radnor School District has promised to help us to solve some of the parking issues. We will do everything we can to make it convenient for you to park.

This past year, we initiated our individual voluntary word recognition program. I was so pleased to see half of the student body participate. It is our goal to reach more students in the future, and we appreciate your support.

The spring field trip was wonderful. Many parents would like to see us to plan a similar program next year. Even though last week’s picnic was short, we sure did enjoy the fellowship and the delicious lunch.

Please see the attached Ding Hao 200 Characters list. It will be a challenge for our children. But with your help and their willingness to learn, I am sure we can reach our goal.

Some of us will be working hard this summer, not just for the camp, but also to prepare a new Ding Hao Brochure, update the curriculum booklet, re-organize our storage room, etc.  Please keep in touch through email. I wish all of you a wonderful summer. AND PLEASE DON'T FORGET TO VISIT OUR WEBSITE TO REGISTER FOR THE FALL SEMESTER.  http://dinghao.ccagp.org/

Sincerely,
