Ding Hao FAQ's
Ding Hao Chinese School Radnor, PA for English-speaking families who wish to learn Chinese
What time must we arrive at Ding Hao? Circle time for the younger children AND classes for the older children begin promptly at 9:30 AM, so please plan accordingly. Since parking availability can be unpredictable because of Radnor High School events, you may wish to allow a little extra time.
If I don't feel my child is in the right class, what should I do? Every attempt is made to place the children appropriately. If there are any issues, please speak with your teacher and Mrs. Barbara Yuan no later than the second week of school.
If I’d like my child to visit a different class and/or switch classes, what should I do? If a child wishes to visit a different class and/or switch classes, the parent must first contact the Principal, Betty Foo, at bettycfoo@gmail.com, or Assistant Principal Barbara Yuan at barbara.yuan@gmail.com. They will make the appropriate arrangements.
Where can I get textbooks and songbooks? Ask your teacher. Typically, individual song sheets are handed out in class. However, if you wish to purchase book one and/or book two, the cost is $5 for each book.
Which classes attend circle time? This can change each year, depending on the school population. However, for the 2008-09 school year, the following classes should meet at 9:30 for circle time: Class 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5. The following classes should proceed directly to their classrooms to begin promptly at 9:30: 6, 7, 8, 9, & 10.
What school supplies are needed? School supplies: All students should bring scissors, scotch tape or glue sticks, washable markers and #2 pencils to every class. The reason we request washable markers is to keep the desks and classrooms as clean as possible for the sake of our relationship with Radnor High School. If you have these supplies, please bring them for the first class. Please do not permit your child to bring in anything that could be distracting in the class.
What about snacks? Dry Snacks -- not messy, sticky snacks -- are permitted in the classroom. If you do spill something on the desk or make a mark on it, please be sure to wipe it off. Please remember to keep the classroom neat with the desks situated as you found them.
How can I find out about my child’s homework assignment? For all classes, the parents are encouraged to come into the classroom for the last 10 minutes to go over what the children learned and to hear homework assignment.
May I bring a younger sibling into my child's class? Please try to make other arrangements for younger siblings. It can be very distracting to both your child and the other children as well. If you have extenuating circumstances, please see your teacher.
What should I do if my email address changes? Email is the only means for us to keep you informed about what is happening -- be it class cancellations, parking changes, event updates, etc. If your address changes, please email your new address immediately to Fran Bright at fb19342@aol.com.

When we attended Ding Hao last year, there were some unexpected changes in the schedule. If this happens in the future, will we receive a partial refund for that time? No. Since Ding Hao is a tenant of Radnor School District, we have no control over last-minute calendar changes necessitated by events held at the high school. Ding Hao will make every effort to make up any time lost when schedule changes occur; however, the school will not offer refunds in the event of a scheduling change.
